In this scene from Jaws- I feel like the audio/music selections are what makes this scene so eerie. You get those flashes of serenity when you see the people on the shore with the calm soothing view of the ocean and the lighthouse. However, the scene of the woman in the water getting attacked by the shark becomes terrifying because of the music accompanying it. If you watch the scene again with your volume on mute, one would possibly come to the conclusion that the woman cannot swim and is just flailing in the water. I also think that the music selection for this piece couldn't have been any better. The intensity of the music plays such a role in how the audience should feel. If the musical choice was a bit more upbeat and 'light' I don't think that it would have fit as well. Also- I believe that the musical soundtrack for this entire movie is so well known and that is what makes the movie as interesting as it is.
